AFRICAN BUSINESS

As business in the United States–particularly in light of the US African Growth and Opportunity Acts (1996,1997), President Clinton’s 1998 and 2000 African Visits, and other government iniatives–prepares for more direct business links with African nations, buyers,

and suppliers, information will continue to be the key to success.

Several popular publications, including magazines such as Jeune Afrique, African Profiles, Africa Today, and West Africa feature up to date information about business in Africa. The book, The African Business Handbook: A Comprehensive Guide to Business Resources for African Trade and Investment by Michael Sudarkaska (DC, 1996) contains over 400 pages of  African business specific references. There are many other print resources as well,  some of which are contained in sources mentioned earlier in this Resource Guide. (see the “Resources on Resources” section). Many of these direct business connections can be initiated through the World Wide Web.
